What are the poles behind the field goal posts at high school football games?

I have noticed at the last two high school football games I attended there was a tall pole on a tripod at both ends of the field , centered just behind the field goal posts. There was a man at each pole, that appeared to make adjustments of some sort all during the game. What are these mysterious poles??|||Cameras. All games are taped and they use these poles called skycams that give a view of the players.
