Since a football field is 100 yrds, how come college football fields are longer than high schools fields?

For example, I know the Florida Gators or the Ohio St. Buckeyes football fields are longer and wider than a typical high school football field, but a football field suppose to be 100 yards (not including the endzones). How is that?|||the NFL has bigger fields because the NFL athletes are proportionally larger than high school football players and can therefore take bigger steps, they accomodate for this by making the field longer and wider and harder and rougher. yum|||They are in no way longer or wider. All levels of American football use the same field dimensions for the area of play.

You're likely confusing American football with Canadian football, where your supposition would correctly apply.

But, NFL and major college football stadiums are in almost every way - with rare exceptions - better kept and better made than high school facilities.

The best thing to happen to football fields in the Pros is the new concept in the Cardinal's Phoenix stadium. The grass rolls out on a platform to soak up the sun - natural turf with its own state-of-the-art sprinkler system - then, the day before the game, they roll it into the dome. The field platform completes the full move cycle in about 90 minutes. What a great way to save world class athletes from unnecessary surface-derived injuries, and add years to their careers. With the money spent on salaries, and the competition for top talent, you'd think more and more people will build these fields as a competitive advantage, as new stadiums come into play.|||My turn, my turn...... They are the same!!

You KNOW the Gators or Buckeyes fields are longer!!

All football fields are 100yds and an extra 20 for the endzones.

The dimensions of EVERY football field is 360' x 160'. The difference is in the placement of the hash marks. It makes the NFL fields look wider.

Below I have included the links for all 3 fields. High School, NCAA and NFL.|||They're not. When I was in high school we had all of our home games at on a college football field.

THEY'RE ALL THE SAME LENGTH. The distance of the hashes and the the distance between the uprights are the only DIFFERENCES. But EVERY football field is 100yds in length and between the goalines and 53yds 1/2 in width between the sidelines.|||well first the actual field is 120 yards including the in zones. High School Fields and college ones are the same length they may be wider but they only seem bigger is because the are in between the sidelines and the stadium, while in high school there is usually a track in between. |||They're all 100 yards long, and have 10 yard long end-zones. They're all the same width too.

I think that large NFL and College STADIUMS give them a larger appearance.

Usually High Schools only have a couple of bleachers, and they aren't ever as packed as college or NFL games.|||the field seems bigger since there is a stadium around it there is no difference in size because of regulation.|||They aren't longer, they just appear long because you have to work harder in college to get yards. |||They are both 100 yards...100 yards is a 100 yards.|||They are the same size. Only in Canada do they use bigger fields (150 yards including endzones, 60 yards wide)|||The fields are all the same. Easy two points|||They are, as I assume you now know, they same.|||what are you talking about

my high school's field is 100 yards

and so are colleges?
